White filling = Tooth coloured filling = Composite resin
A composite filling is a tooth-colored plastic and glass mixture used to restore decayed teeth which is an alternative to amalgam fillings. Composites are also used for cosmetic improvements of the smile by changing the color of the teeth or reshaping disfigured teeth with a natural looking finish. One of the advantages of these fillings tend to require less tooth substance removal during the preparation process. Also composite fillings bond to the natural tooth better than metal fillings, therefore they prevent further tooth fracture.
