NUMBER ONE

“The most common treatment that UK adults receive at a dental surgery is a scale and polish.”

GENERAL DENTISTRY

General Dentistry covers a wide range of procedures, starting from initial consultation and x-rays, followed by fillings, repairs, root canal treatments and extractions. A general dentist will place on emphasis on preventative care as well as undertaking restorative treatments.

If you have ever undergone a scale and polish, a filling or have had dentures fitted then this all falls into the category of general dentistry.

NUMBER ONE

“The most common treatment that UK adults receive at a dental surgery is a scale and polish.”

Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment is a dental procedure used to treat infection at the centre of a tooth -It’s also known as ‘endodontics’ which is a way to save the tooth and avoid an extraction! Where possible at Aylestone House – we will always endeavour to save teeth and avoid extractions!
The infection can be caused by bacteria that live in the mouth and invade the tooth. This can happen due to:

  • Tooth decay
  • Leaky fillings
  • Damage to the teeth as a result of trauma, such as a fall

To treat the infection in the root canal, the bacteria needs to be removed, the root canal will then be filled and the tooth sealed with a filling or crown. In most cases, the inflamed tissue at the end of the tooth will heal naturally. Before having root canal treatment, you will usually be given a local anaesthetic. This means the procedure shouldn’t be painful, and should be no more unpleasant than having a filling.

Extractions/Oral Surgery

Tooth extraction might be required when:

  • Tooth decay is advanced
  • If a Wisdom Tooth is impacted and becoming problematic
  • If gum disease has advanced.

Our dentists can provide both simple & complicated extractions in our practice and will do everything they can to make you feel at ease during this treatment, explaining what is involved prior to the appointment and before they start treatment, and also taking the time to go through the appropriate after care with you.

Dentures

Complete or partial dentures can be made to replace spaces left by missing teeth. They provide support to your cheek & lips. The base of a denture can be plastic or metal and the tooth shade is matched to your natural teeth.

Existing dentures can be re-lined or adjusted if they are feeling loose. Implant retained dentures are a good treatment option for patients experiencing dissatisfaction with their existing dentures. Also, if they would like to gain the ability to chew without experiencing their denture ‘rocking’.

Mouthguards

A mouthguard is a bespoke dental appliance made by the dental lab in order to protect your teeth against sport injuries or other tooth wear (grinding, clenching).

A nightguard or a night mouthguard is prescribed to patients who suffer from jaw problems or teeth grinding (bruxism), preventing further tooth wear.

WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY

“Have been going there for check-ups for about 6 years now. Really happy with them. After another dentist told me I needed no fillings and yet another dentist told me I needed 3, Ritesh actually showed me (on camera!) the one place where I did need one. He always answers my questions patiently and thoroughly. I find him to be friendly, knowledgeable and trustworthy. He has a calm manner, so that helps me to relax when I visit. The dental assistants and receptionists are all lovely too and I think they are reasonably priced for what they do. I’ve moved away from the area and I still go back to them!”

“I have been visiting Aylestone House for almost 10 years and always found them to be absolutely amazing. It’s great how they treat everyone so well. It’s a pleasure to visit them.  Probably the best Dental Practice in the country.”

“Got me back into the good habit of visiting the dentist regularly since 2008, after a break of 30 plus years! Roddy and all of his team are simply exceptional!”

“I am writing to commend you and your staff on your friendliness, competence and professionalism. My family and I have recently become patients at your practice and since the start, we have received nothing but a professional service.”

“I was referred to Aylestone House as an emergency over Christmas & was very satisfied with the help provided. Very pleased to get an appointment and excellent service at such short notice.”
